The Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR) will resume its public auction of delinquent commercial and residential real properties on November 30. The sale of tax year 2008 delinquent properties runs from 8:30 am to noon and 1 pm to 4 pm November 30 thru December 2, at 941 North Capitol Street, NE, 4th Floor, Training Room A, Washington, DC 20002.

Tax Sale Registration:

Prospective purchasers who registered for the September tax sale are not required to register again, but must have adequate deposits on account before the tax sale begins. Those who have not previously registered may do so as follows:

  • Dates:  November 23 thru November 25 and November 30 thru December 2
  • Time:   9 am to 4 pm
  • Location:  941 North Capitol Street, NE, First Floor, Customer Service Center

Purchasers who have not registered are required to complete Form FR-500, Combined Business Tax Registration Application, prior to registering. The form can be found on OTR’s Web site at taxpayerservicecenter.com under “Tax Forms/Publications.” They must also make a deposit of at least 20 percent of their total bid. A $150 tax sale fee will be added to each property at the time of the sale.

Property owners wishing to settle their tax obligations prior to the Tax Sale should pay their outstanding tax liabilities reflected in their final bill. Anyone with questions about the status of their property should call OTR's Customer Service Center at (202) 727-4TAX (727-4829).
